Cedar Avenue Mural
"Cedar Avenue Mural" depicts an image of Broad St. Cookeville, TN from the 1930s. It is set at twilight so most of the street is visible, but the street lights are lit, giving a festive glow. The mural is not so dark to feel out of place during the day, but has a ânight on the townâ feel that adds to the scene on Cedar Ave. after the sun goes down. It is a positive rendition of Cookeville from the past; thriving, packed with cars and pedestrians. It is an encouragement to visualize Cookeville that way still, with its specialty stores and local fine dining.
The mural is located directly across from Father Tom's Pub, giving their patrons an ideal view of the mural. It was funded by donations from various local business around Cedar Avenue, a grant from the Cookeville Arts Council, and many admirers who left donations in Father Tom's Pub. It was completed in 2018.
